Tom Bolt, a veteran insurance executive who held senior leadership roles at AIG, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance and Lloyd's of London, has died, as confirmed by AIG in a LinkedIn post.

Bolt spent more than four decades in the insurance industry. He joined AIG in January 2018 as global chief underwriting officer of general insurance before later serving as executive vice president and chief risk officer, a position he held until his retirement in 2024.

Bolt's departure from AIG occurred during a period of significant leadership transitions at the company. Earlier in the year, AIG announced a broader reshaping of its North America commercial insurance leadership, which included the retirement of long-serving executive Don Bailey.

AIG's board and executive leadership issued a statement regarding Bolt's career at the company. According to the statement, Bolt's work contributed to establishing what the company described as general insurance's position as an industry leader for underwriting excellence.

Survivors include his wife, Patti, and his children and grandchildren.
